Escape Guide // Bermuda

There's a rock in the middle of the Atlantic. Just 20 square miles of old school British charm, a slew of golf courses and views that own Instagram. The nightlife is scarce (since most people don't make it far after Sunset Cocktails) but the food is top notch and the beaches are well, unreal. Flops, Shorts, Shades, and a preppy looking polo and you're golden on the Island of Bermuda.

PUT ‘EM BACK

Swizzle Inn - 3 Blue Hole Hill, CR 04, Bermuda
Heralded as a “must go” by locals and visitors alike (& by us..just gook?!), the Swizzle Inn is definitely a place to go for sips and dips. If you don’t order a Rum Swizzle, you’ve done something wrong. It’s tag line, “Swizzle in, swagger out.” Is no joke. The food is good, the atmosphere is great, but the Rum Swizzle is what makes this place a keeper.

White Horse Pub & Restaurant – 8 King's Sq., St George's, Bermuda

a Sports Bar proclaimed as “the best in Bermuda’s east end”, this is the place to come when you want to drink like you’re on vacation and still be able leave the place with enough money to still enjoy your vacation. It’s like your ‘round the corner local pub, but in paradise.

Calico Jack’s Floating Bar – 32°19'37. 64°49'56., 1"N Tribe Rd No. 1, Bermuda

It’s a floating bar. A pirate-themed, floating bar that serves food. A pirate-themed, floating bar that serves food and has really good signature drinks. Our picks: The Frozen Pink Palm Tree, or a play the part and put back a Grog or two. Getting hot, you can take a swim right off “Captain Jack’s plank” all while jamming out to a combination of Jimmy Buffet and/or Bob Marley.

IF YOU CAN GET IN

Mid-Ocean Club – 1 Mid Ocean Drive, Truckers Town FL BX, Bermuda
When a club is referenced in a James Bond movie and James Bond is a member of said club, chances are, your chances to get in the club are slim. But if you can swing it, Mid-Ocean is home to some of the most difficult golf courses in the world and it is not for the hacks in the bunch. It is rated among the top 100 golf courses in the world. Nerdy Historical fact: Mid Ocean was designed by Canadian-born Charles Blair MacDonald- aka, “The Father of Golf Architecture.”

GOOD EATS

Waterlot Inn – Middle Rd, Bermuda
While a little more dressed up than some of the aforementioned watering holes, Waterlot is a 350 year old steak & chop house that’s made it this far, not by accident. It’s got the best food on the island, and the building itself is chalk full of really interesting elements from Bermuda’s storied past. Grab a cocktail outdoors before you enjoy your Surf & Turf inside.

HANG YOUR HAT

The Loren – 116 South Road, Tucker’s Town Smiths HS01, Bermuda

Making a grand 2017 opening is the Loren, located by Bermuda’s southern shore. Sleek, modern and oh-so new, the splendid architecture seamlessly blends with its ocean view, welcoming all visitors to its tranquil bliss. It intends to be “an island hotel like no other.”
